Managing Constipation and Fecal Impaction in HH
Regular bowel emptying is essential for good health. However, some people may have difficulty at times with the bowel movement process. As the body ages, some of the changes that occur with aging can affect bowel function in a negative way. There are also other risk factors that can affect bowel function, including taking certain types of medications. Some problems with bowel movements can be prevented. There are treatments available for constipation, as well. In this course, you will learn about constipation and fecal impaction, ways to prevent them, and the medications that are used to treat constipation. The goal of this course is to present general staff and non-licensed direct care workers in home health care settings with guidance for managing constipation and fecal impaction.
