When thinking about workplace hazards, several things come to mind, such as sharp objects or harmful dust and particles. Infectious diseases, such as influenza or COVID-19, and body fluids, such as blood or saliva, are not usually thought about when considering workplace hazards, but they can cause harm to an individual. Staff must protect themselves and the individuals they care for from these workplace hazards. Personal protective equipment, or PPE, is one of the first lines of defense against these hazards. This course discusses the different types of PPE and when each type is required to be worn.
The goal of this course is to educate staff in all healthcare settings about personal protective equipment.
